I made up this little bouquet as a gift for a girl at work called Becky, who has been really supportive with all my floristry so far so I thought she deserved a thank you!
Excuse the terrible quality photos!

Final assessment
I had my final assessment from the first unit at college this week - and it was another distinction! We also made a dried Biedermier tied posy for our portfolios, which are due in the week after next. There was a lot of wiring for this piece but I actually really like the outcome. I didn't think I'd like the dried materials but I think they're really effective.

Pink and white hand tied
A girl at work this week asked me to make up a bouquet that she could give to a friend as a thank you. She asked for pinks and whites, so here is what I came up with. I really like this arrangement, and I think it's one of the best ones I've done!

Double assessment
I had a double assessment at college this week, and got a double distinction! I've made both the designs before so they should look familiar. The first design is a hand tied with an aqua pack, which my tutor said was made to a commercial standard with nice placements and a good dome shape and use of materials. I personally didn't think this design looked as good as the practice one but my tutor obviously thought it was ok and she's the professional!
The second design is a hand tied with a collar. This was assessed by a different tutor, who said my collar was stunning and the materials were evenly placed. I need to be careful with the loose wires below the binding point though. These are from the fir cones, lotus heads and sisal balls.

Getting ready for Christmas
It seems very early but I want to try and sell some Christmas wreaths so I went out this weekend to get some bits to decorate them with. Needless to say I got a little carried away! The wreaths on the white background are ones I put together this weekend - I just made one then changed the decorations. I'm going to promote them on facebook and at work so I wanted to have some photos ready for any potential customers to see. I've already got a few orders so I'm off to a good start!
The photo on the brown background is the wreath I had up at home last year, that I made on my evening course. That wreath was a lot bigger but also a lot heavier and more expensive to make.

Hand tied with a collar
At college today we made two hand tied bouquets with frames - one frame was made from natural materials and the other was made from cardboard and fabric. I really like the materials we used this week - I'd seen them all before but I didn't know what some of them were called so it was good to find out! I like the fabric frame best I think - it has a greater visual impact. We have 40 minutes to make that arrangement in an assessment next week!

Orange you glad I didn't say banana
This week at college we had an orange theme! We made two arrangements again - a hostess bouquet and a hand tied arrangement using just one flower. One is practice for an assessment in a couple of weeks and the other is for the portfolio.
I'm quickly learning that the packaging really makes the bouquet - you can make even the smallest of arrangements look even more impressive with good packaging.
