The Secret Garden window display
I've just finished the first part of the window display unit at college. We split into groups and chose a theme to base our display round, and my group chose "The Secret Garden" as our theme. We made five arrangements for the display - a twig pot arrangement, a topiary tree, a jam jar trio posy, a heart wreath and a hand tied. We got a distinction for our display so we must have a done a good job, and I certainly think we did!

Orange you glad I didn't say banana
This week at college we had an orange theme! We made two arrangements again - a hostess bouquet and a hand tied arrangement using just one flower. One is practice for an assessment in a couple of weeks and the other is for the portfolio.
I'm quickly learning that the packaging really makes the bouquet - you can make even the smallest of arrangements look even more impressive with good packaging.

Large leaves
My mother brought home some leaves from church so that I could use them in an arrangement, and this is what I came up with. It's very large! I put it together in my studio, and it's the first arrangement I've done in there. It's good to have my own space but I need to get doubles of all my tools and materials so I can leave them down there because it's not exactly convenient to lug my toolbox all the way down the garden!
My studio is still a work in progress but I'll post some more photos when it's done.

Floristry: Week 9
I missed week 8 of my Floristry course because I was away in Edinburgh so I wasn't really prepared for week 9. We got a handout at the start which has a basic list of the materials we use and luckily I'd read it to know to bring in a vase! I would've been very stuck if I hadn't brought one!
We used very few flowers in this design but that doesn't subtract from the overall look. Plus the colours and baubles make it look very festive!

Floristry: Week 1
Yesterday was actually the 5th week of my Floristry course but as I've only just started posting I've got a bit of catching up to do!
So this is what I made on the first week. The first unit is 'Hand Tieds and Arrangements' and runs for 10 weeks so half way through now! I was so impressed with this as my very first real arrangement (so modest!) but for someone who's only experience has been helping out at one wedding I think this is quite an achievement. The course is guided and the arrangements are based off a design from the course leader but there are always ways to make your structure unique and personal to you.
